Welcome to Year 1!
At Avenue Primary, we learn about a different topic every half term. These topics are called ‘drivers’ and revolve around a main question, which links specifically to Science, History or Geography.
For this half term, we have a Science driver.
Our question to investigate is…
Within this Science driver, the children will identify and name a variety of common animals and plants. They will compare and describe the structure of common animals including fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. The children will also be naming a variety of common wild and garden plants including deciduous and evergreen trees. The children will be identifying and labelling basic parts of the human body and link this to their senses.
Home School Project
Make a 3D garden, including a range of plants and animals based on real plants and animals eg. squirrels, butterflies, foxes, oak trees, dandelions, ivy and blackberry bushes etc...
Here is an outline of the other curriculum areas we will be covering this term.
