Reading at Avenue is taught through;
1. Whole class reading that develops listening skills, a love of stories and reading for pleasure.
2. Shared reading that immerses children in the pattern of story and features of text types.
3. Group reading that targets children’s reading skills
Reading does not start and stop at the school doors though, we encourage parents to engage in theirs child's reading at home by completing reading records weekly, attending reading workshops/breakfasts and supporting their child in achieving their reading goals.
