On Tuesday 7th July 12 children travelled to Stratford to take part in the Newham Chess Championships.
Our children were exceptionally well behaved and they were a credit to our school and community.
The children played against at least 10 other schools in six rounds of chess.
Eduard scooped a third place in the Year 1 & 2 category for the highest score.
As a team and our scores combined we missed out on third place only 1 point!
A great time was had by all the children and staff.
We would like to say a special thanks to Rob Giddens who has been coming to Avenue for 8 years teaching our children chess skills and Mrs Kumari for supporting Chess club and organising the trip.
Hopefully this can continue in years to come.
Well done Chess Club!
