Science

At Avenue, we encourage our pupils to be curious and experience/observe phenomena about the world around them. The environment we create enables our students to be confident to ask questions about what they notice and we promote resilience by developing their understanding of scientific ideas. Children use different types of scientific enquiry to answer their own questions, including observing changes over a period of time, noticing patterns, grouping and classifying things, carrying out comparative tests, and finding things out using secondary sources of information.

The children become confident in using scientific language and are motivated to learn about science through the use of first-hand practical experiences and appropriate secondary sources.
